Electrical Compliance for Healthy Home Standards

If you own a rental property, it’s time to ensure your property meets the new Healthy Home Standards. Developed to set minimum requirements to ensure New Zealand rental properties are warmer and drier for tenants, these standards aim to:

  • Improve ventilation
  • Improve heating
  • Improve insulation
  • Improve drainage
  • Reduce moisture
  • Stop draughts

Why are the Standards Being Introduced?

The Healthy Homes Standards aim to improve the health and warmth of the nation’s 600,000 rental properties.  Research has shown that New Zealand’s rental housing are well below the World Health Organization’s recommended minimum indoor temperature of 18°C. By legislating nationwide Healthy Home Standards for rental properties, the Government aims to help improve the wellbeing of New Zealanders and their families.
